Well dear readers, I am delighted to tell you all that I am now living and working in beautiful Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island! This gorgeous seaside city on Canada’s West Coast is the capital of British Columbia and one of the most beautiful places on earth. My dear hubby and I decided that after almost thirteen years of small-town island life in the beautiful Comox Valley, BC, it was time for a change.
After living part-time in Victoria for the past year, we came to the conclusion that we are, at the core, city people and are much happier and healthier when we’re plunked into the middle of the hustle and bustle of city life. And we couldn’t have picked a better city to settle in than Victoria. In fact, Victoria was where I first lived twenty years ago when I moved from the inner city of Toronto and it was love at first sight. However, being young and green with only a Bachelor’s degree, it was rough-going setting up a life in that lovely but expensive city.
I may have gained a few wrinkles and some grey hair since then, but one thing I can celebrate is the fact that I am now financially secure and can afford to own a house in Victoria! Yahoo! And what a house we found! I still cannot believe our good fortune. In the midst of an insane real estate market boom, we somehow managed to secure a gorgeous heritage home built in 1912 in our favourite neighbourhood in Victoria – Fairfield. We are a few blocks from Dallas Rd. that overlooks the ocean, and five blocks from Cook St. Village, a very cool mix of coffee shops, cafes, food shopping, yoga studios, and community centres.
It seemed as if this house had our names written on it- one of the former owners is a psychotherapist and had a private practice office designed and built into the house, with it’s own separate entrance! Guess where my new office is? Yep- in that gorgeous, bright, completely private and separate built-in office conveniently located at the side of the house. And my husband will be running his business in a separate section of the house which will save us a lot of money as we won’t need to buy or rent extra outside office space as we’ve done in the past.
If you are a client of mine, here are some details about the few changes you can expect over the next few months:
My email address will stay the same, as will my website and newsletter list so no need to worry about any of those.
I will be keeping the same phone number until August 31, 2016 which is a Comox Valley number. As of September 1, I will have a new phone number which will be a Victoria number and it will be listed on my website.
I have rented an office in the Cook St. Village area for the months of July and August so will be available for in-person sessions there until I move into my house in September.
I will be keeping the exact same days and hours and am available to work with you for the entire summer and onwards. There will be no gap in service.
I am available for telephone sessions always and I pay for the phone call, not you. It’s easy, convenient, and highly effective. In fact, the bulk of my practice is via telephone all across Canada and it has been met with great enthusiasm and success over the years.
If you really want, we can do Skype or FaceTime video sessions so we can see each other face-to-face. Personally, I prefer phone sessions as video sessions are more prone to technical difficulties and the call is often dropped which can be frustrating. However, if this is your preference, we can work with what we have and hope for the best. I’m hoping that this technology will improve vastly in the future.
