Do No Harm and Take No Shit Meditation

1 February 2021 by Esther Kane

I have found the perfect meditation for dealing with the incredible frustrations of COVID-related craziness going on all around us- something that will help you keep your head on straight, act with loving kindness, but while at the same time, maintaining healthy boundaries to keep yourself and your loved ones safe. I have been doing this meditation almost daily since I discovered it with miraculous results and felt the need to share it with you in the hopes that you will find it just as helpful.

I first heard about it on one of my favourite podcasts hosted by Brene Brown, where she interviewed one of my favourite authors, Elizabeth Lesser who wrote one of my favourite books about resilience called Broken Open. Listen to this amazing interview to hear her take on the power of women’s stories.

Then I heard her again being interviewed on another of my favourite podcasts with Tara Brach which you can listen to here. In this episode, Lesser introduces the incredibly powerful and transformative meditation she calls, “Do No Harm and Take No Shit.”

I quickly looked this up on YouTube hoping to find a video of how to do this meditation so that I could figure out the hand placements, and found it! I strongly suggest you watch this and practise along with her to reap the rewards. Enjoy!
