Dealing With Family Cut-Offs

Unfortunately, there is an unending need to explore the complicated issue of family cutoffs or what is commonly referred to as ‘familial estrangement’.  I have addressed this issue in previous posts. Check them out if you haven’t done so already:

What to do when a family member shuts you out

A Client’s Journey Through Family Cut-Offs

Recently, I listened to one of my favourite psychologists- Dr. Rick Hanson -who does a lovely podcast with his son Forrest, discussing how to navigate familial estrangement. Dr. Hanson has spent decades doing family therapy and shares his profound wisdom on the topic. I have included both the audio and video versions of this conversation. Choose the one which suits you best. I sincerely hope that if you are suffering through a family cutoff at the moment, that you find some peace and tools to help you navigate this very tricky situation.
